Roberta was born on January 19, 1953 in Toronto, Ontario Canada. She was an only child to the late Charles and Lavona Kerr of Ontario. Her name was given by her parents because Robert has been a family name for many years. When she married, she altered her family name "Kerr" to "Kerrie" as her middle name and became affectionately known by friends and family as Kerrie.
She received her Medical Secretarial Program diploma from Grant MacEwan Community College in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She spent most of her life residing in the bustling business center of Halifax, Nova Scotia. She worked for 10 years at Izaak Walton Killam Hospital for Children as an executive secretary to Physician-in-Chief of Pediatrics before becoming an entrepreneur for transcribing medical and legal documentation, and finally a Court Reporter. She consistently received high recognition from her employers and clients alike for her commitment, particularly her speed-typing skills that won her a regional championship. Alongside her professional work, she volunteered her skills on the board of directors Haifax County Condominium Corporation as Vice-president of Finance for 11 years.
In 1997, she married and moved to San Diego where she and her husband started their family. Her humanitarian spirit continued as she focused her philanthropic efforts on The National Children's Cancer Society. She enjoyed spending time on all things arts and crafts. She had a particular passion for knitting and diamond paintings. She was also an avid reader.
She is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Rod and her cherished son, Braeden. Her family and friends will greatly miss her - but she will always remain in our hearts and fondest memories.
