Rommel Deguzman
Nanasca
March 9, 1984 – March 11, 2025
Rommel DeGuzman Nanasca, 41 years old, of San Diego, passed away peacefully on March 11th surrounded by loved ones.
Rommel was born on March 9th, 1984, in San Diego, California to Roman Cruz Nanasca and Melorna DeGuzman Nanasca. He grew up in Poway and graduated from Poway High School in 2003 with Honors and a 4.2 GPA. He attended the University of California, San Diego where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Jacobs School of Engineering. Rommel worked as an Engineer for 17 years at the Boeing Company, helping with the development and building of the 787 Dreamliner airplanes. Rommel was respected and loved by all of his co-workers. He was a source of inspiration, as a colleague, where others frequently asked him for support.
Rommel had a passion for computers, gaming, and often spent time with his beloved niece and nephew, Casiah and Cade. Rommel frequently addressed Casiah and Cade as if they were his own, "They are MY babies." He absolutely loved spoiling them. Casiah and Cade deemed him the best "Funcle (Fun Uncle)." Despite Rommel's physical limitations with muscular dystrophy, he was one of the strongest and smartest individuals his family came across. His mother, Melorna, was a pillar for Rommel, whom he called, "Mama," caring for him around the clock, day and night, being his main caregiver and support. Through Melorna's assistance, Melanie, Casiah, and Cade also helped care for Rommel. He was dearly loved. Rommel was known for his humble intelligence, his patience, his quick wit, and his unwavering love and devotion for his family.
Rommel is survived by Melorna DeGuzman Nanasca (Mother), Melanie Nanasca Bada (Sister), Levi Bada (Brother-in-law), Casiah Nanasca Bada (niece), and Cade Roman Bada (nephew). He is preceded in death by Roman Cruz Nanasca, Proceso Geronimo DeGuzman (Maternal Grandfather), Martina Dimalanta DeGuzman (Maternal Grandmother), Leonila Cruz Nanasca (Paternal Grandmother), and Aurelio Nanasca (Paternal Grandfather).
A service to honor Rommel's life will be held on Monday, March 17th at 11:00a in St. Michael's Catholic Church.
