Obituary

Rosario "Charing" Ocampo Galvante, 86, of Virginia Beach, passed away peacefully in San Diego, California  on Thursday, November 13, 2025. She was born in Nabua, Camarines Sur, Philippines on November 18,1938 to Lauro Ocampo and Maria Ayen whom she joins in heaven.

Rosario graduated from Nabua High School class of 1956.  In 1960 she married Santiago Sales Galvante after he joined the US Navy. She later moved throughout the United States from Long Beach, CA. Honolulu, HI., Bremerton. WA. Long Island, NY., Charleston, SC raising her family and finally settling in Virginia Beach ,VA and retiring  from Chesapeake Regional Hospital as a surgical technician for over 20 years. She was happily married to Santiago for 64 years.

Rosario was a member of the Catholic Church at Little Creek Base Chapel. She continued to serve the Filipino community as a member of Bicol Association. In her free time, she enjoyed playing mahjong, trips to the Casino, time with her grandchildren, enjoying friends and family and traveling the world.

Left to cherish her  memory are son Sandor Galvante, daughter Gina Galvante Hughes and her husband Kevin Hughes, sister  Marichu Ocampo Tucay and her husband Leonard Tucay, nephew Joel Tucay niece Jasmine Tucay Erguiza and her husband Michael Erguiza, brother Ben Galvante, brother Manuel Galvante and wife Alice Galvante, grandchildren Kyle Hughes, Carli Hughes, Keagan Hughes, Landon Erguiza and Felix Erguiza. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Santiago S.Galvante.

The family will receive friends at Hollomon Brown Princess Anne Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, December 3, 2025 from 5-7PM in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  Condolences to the family may be offered at www.hollomon-brown.com

A Celebration of life will be held at Hollomon Brown 3445 Princess Anne Chapel Va Beach on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at 11 AM. A burial will follow at Colonial Grove Memorial Park, Virginia Beach Virginia
