Obituary

Roseann Marie Douras, age 82, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2024 in Carlsbad, California. With her devoted family around her holding her hand, sharing with her, messages, love, and prayers from friends and relatives spanning New Jersey to London, they handed her over to our Lord for his eternal Grace and Peace.

Her most recent, proud memories were attending the college family weekends for her grandsons, Jack and Michael, and Jack's college graduation in May.

She was born in Newark, New Jersey on June 27, 1942 to the late Dominick Littriello and the late Anna (Bartiromo) Littriello. She was raised with a loving little sister, Donna Custode. Roseann lived a lively life full of love and adventure without exception. She was drawn to the Jersey Shore, Atlantic City board walk, enjoyed shopping, dancing, cooking and her Italian heritage. She was in to style and fashion and loved taking the ferry in to NYC on her lunch hour while working at Prudential as an up-and-coming young Jersey Girl.

She married her high school sweetheart, Frank Joseph Guarino in October, 1964. They moved to Michigan where she raised their two children, Frank Jr. and Gina Marie. She was involved positively in the community for years volunteering at Beaumont Hospital, Bishop Foley High School, Kensington Church, and working at Walsh College and DNB&B Advertising. She was married to Frank for 26 years yet they remained life long friends and exemplified the true meaning of love and compassion as she cared for him until he passed away in 2021.

In 1967, Roseann expanded her family marrying James Douras gathering the addition of her step daughter, Kim Phillips and step grandchildren Courtney, Lauren, and David. They treasured 17 years of marriage living in Florida, Michigan, and California enjoying traveling, camping in their RV, and trips to London to visit family. She loved and cared for Jim until he passed away in December 2014.

She was fortunate to find love once more with Harold, "Hal" Abbott in 2015. Hal and Roseann moved permanently to San Diego to be near her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. Holidays at the Hotel Del, dinners in little Italy, the RB Winery, and high school football games all became her new favorites along with the west coast beaches of course. Roseann spent the last nine years continuing her vibrant life, sharing her friendly spirit, love of travel, and dedication to her family and church. She was an avid gardener, and knitter where she knitted numerous baby blankets for all newborns of those she met and loved in the community. She never lost her passion for connecting with those she met in the path of a typical day and was known by many as "the one who cared for us."

She is survived by her children; Gina Marie (Thomas) Baxter and Frank Joseph (Loretta) Guarino, and leaves a special legacy in her four grandchildren; Jack Thomas and Michael Dominick Baxter, Annmarie and Joseph Guarino. Her sister, Donna (Gene) Custode, nieces and nephews Stacy (Ross) Bockbrader, Nichole (Kirk) Perez, and Gino (Lisa) Custode, and her loving companion Harold Abbott.
