San Diego – Ruth Ottilie (Widmayer) Shimansky, age 99, of San Diego California, passed peacefully away on Friday, September 10 ^th , 2021.  She was born January 31,1922 in Maspeth, New York.  Ruth was the second to the youngest child out of 7 children to the late Frank Widmayer and Julia (Emig) Widmayer.  Her siblings preceded her in death; her brother Francis Widmayer Jr., her step-brothers: Fredrick Widmayer, and William Widmayer, her step-sisters: Dorothy Fisch, and Catherine Andreski.

She leaves her son, Robert Shimansky and wife Kathie; son Douglas Shimansky and wife Mary and daughter-in-law Sue Shimansky. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Sherri, Lori, Gregory, Cyndi, Jonathan and Marie, and five great-grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by Michael K Shimansky, father to her children, and her son Michael K Shimansky Jr.

Ruth was baptized on February 12,1922 confirmed on April 28,1935, and married on November 9,1941 all three in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Maspeth, New York.   While in High School Ruth was involved in Lex (Vice President), Chart, Forms, Spanish, Pan-American, and Badminton Clubs. Ruth graduated January 1940 from Grover Cleveland High School, Ridgewood, New York.

Ruth was a woman of faith and loved church, small groups, quilting club, and progressive dinners.  Ruth also helped found Faith Lutheran Church in San Dimas. She was also a member of House of Prayer church in Escondido.

A Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 16, 2021 by Pastor Greg Hoffman at 1pm at Dearborn Memorial Park, 14361 Tierra Bonita Road, Poway, CA 92064
