Obituary

Ryan Thomas Herich

August 11, 1993 – November 3, 2021

Ryan Herich, 28, passed away suddenly on November 3 rd due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Ryan was born August 11, 1993, in Washington, DC, and lived in suburban Maryland until moving to San Diego with his family in 2003. He most recently lived in Scripps Ranch with his parents Chris and Denise Herich, and his brothers Matthew and Nathan.

Ryan was a proud 2011 graduate of Scripps Ranch High School, and he also attended Mesa College. He was a member of Tierrasanta Lutheran Church.

Ryan was a free spirit, having many varied jobs in his short life, from painter to salesman to delivery person. He had a keen intellect and an insatiable mind for statistics and research. He was a sports fanatic, loving the Padres, FIFA Soccer and football. He possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of the NFL and any player within it, and his love for the Baltimore Ravens was well-known.

But sports wasn't his only interest. He studied anthropology in college and found countries and cultures of the world fascinating. If anyone wanted to know a world capital, GDP of a country, or what its flag looked like, Ryan could tell you. One of his favorite family trips included stops in Spain, Italy and France, where he soaked up the culture of the regions.

His family and friends, however, were the center of his universe. Ryan was a giver: lending a hand whenever a friend needed it, helping his younger brothers with everyday tasks, and being a warm, witty, devoted and loving son to his parents.

Survivors include his immediate family and also his grandfather Wayne Bohn of Mechanicsburg, PA, his Aunt Peggy and Uncle Geoff Shuff of Lewisberry, PA; Aunt Gay and Uncle Kevin Doyle of Algonquin, IL, Aunt Holly and Uncle Nels Ekornaas of Twin Lakes, WI, and cousins Andrew, Trevor, Connor, Caitlin and Annabelle.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm on December 4 th at Tierrasanta Lutheran Church, 11240 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., San Diego, 92124. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to the Autism and Asperger's Disorder charitable organizations of your choice.
