Obituary

Santos Alvarado Albutra Jr. passed away on Sunday Jan. 12, 2025 in the afternoon at the age of 83 years old. He was known as Jun / Sulbe / Baga. Santos was a great husband, father, grandfather, father-in law, and uncle to his nephew, neices & their children. He was born on Oct. 16, 1941 on the island of Cebu in the province of Argao, Philippines. His occupation was a fisherman for more than 30 years. He married his wife Luciana in Roman Catholic Church on the day of  "The Feast Of The Assumption."  He had 4 children. He was happily married for 55 years until his passing. He immigrated to America in 2004 with his wife and later became a naturalized U.S. Citizen. He helped with family upkeep & entertained the family dog.

Santos was a devoted Roman Catholic. Enjoyed attending the Holy Mass every Sunday here in OLMC church together with his prayer warrior wife & daughter Pat. He enjoyed attending Holy Mass in St. Joseph Cathedral, downtown San Diego 6 days a week except when not feeling well. He was also a member of "The Holy Trinity Prayer Group" here in OLMC & received the brown scapular in this church during the investiture.

On the day he died, he was about to receive the "HOLY COMMUNION" at home. Unfortunately he wasn't able. When his son noticed he didn't look right & grasping for air, became weak & unresponsive. We immediately started CPR on him and while we were doing it,  "THE HOLY EUCHARIST" was at our front door, for we didn't have time to open the door for the Eucharistic Ministry person to get inside the house because we were very busy doing CPR on him. The 911 medical team arrived at about the same time as the "HOLY EUCHARIST."  His unresponsive body was taken immediately outside the house by 911 medical team and to the ambulance.  The Legion Of Mary Eucharistic person had witnessed briefly outside the house of the passing of Santos. God Almighty was around during his passing & it was a happy & peaceful departure on earth.

Santos will be remembered as a man with a good sense of humor, who played guitar by ear & sang great. He was also surrounded with friends, relatives, young & old alike doing what he does best - entertaining with his jokes, singing & his musical ability & preferred simple life style.

Although he was sick, minutes before he passed he was laughing, joking, & singing with his family.  He was surrounded by his family at the time of an unexpected but very happy goodbye. He will be forever missed by the people who knew him well & his love ones.

Thanks you all for coming & comforting us during this difficult time.
