On Friday, July 31, Scott passed away peacefully at the age of 52. Scott was born in Waterloo, Iowa on January 7, 1968.
Scott grew up in Waterloo and Hudson, Iowa. He was always mischievous and playful, keeping his family on their toes. He made friends easily and was always laughing. When he was 19 years old Scott made his home in San Diego where he met his former wife, Joana. They had a little girl together and Brittany was Scott's greatest joy. He was a loving and devoted father with his favorite times being cooking, playing video games, walking their dog, and simply talking with Brittany. His proudest days were her accomplishments, most notably the day she graduated from Reed College.
Scott held a degree in hotel management from ITT Tech and he worked for many years in the hotel industry. He truly enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life while in that capacity. He found his calling as a sales manager where his quick wit, flashing smile and sense of humor earned him many loyal customers. He worked in several industries including language translation and energy efficient products for businesses.
Scott will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Brittany of Portland, Oregon; his former wife, Joana of San Marcos, California; his parents Jim and Kathy of Laguna Hills, California; his brother Paul and wife Jane along with their children Ross and Anna of Waukee, Iowa; and his sister Heidi and husband John along with their children Zack and Kiley of San Diego, California.
A Celebration of Scott's life will be held for immediate family only due to COVID-19. The ceremony will be livestreamed for everyone who wishes to attend on-line. The ceremony will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at 3:00pm PST. Please click the following link to attend. https://youtu.be/6h7umubLO_g Scott had a lifelong love of the beach and ocean. As he wished, his ashes will be scattered at sea at sunset on Tuesday evening.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Scott's daughter, Brittany, are appreciated and can be sent to the family.
There are so many people to thank for caring for Scott these past four years. From our family to each of his doctors, Dr. Margaret Chen, Dr. James Sinclair and his caregivers, Stan and Jo Estepa - we thank you so much for the care you all lovingly provided.
