Sena Pierre was born Sena Hemphill on February 10, 1939 in Fairfield, Texas. She was the youngest daughter of 10 siblings. Her parents were Elder Julius I. Hemphill and Ilver Nolan Hemphill. When Sena was a young baby she suffered a severe case of pneumonia and was presumed dead. However, because her father was a strong man of God, he prayed that God would bring her back to life. After hours of laboring in relentless prayer, God brought life back into her body. She was a miracle for 81 years, until God finally called her home on January 2, 2021 at 5:29am.
From the day Sena was born she was a strong willed, energetic, go-getter. Sena never allowed anything or anyone to slow her down. She knew what she wanted and worked hard to get it.
Sena attended and graduated from Dogan High School in Fairfield, TX. She attended El Camino College in Torrance, CA. Sena was a professional school bus driver with Community and the Los Angeles Unified School District where she retired after 19 years of service.
Everything about Sena represented class and style. She refused to settle for less. Sena raised two beautiful, intelligent, hardworking, and loving children. She was a single mother who made sure they always had the best.
Sena was both sophisticated and witty. Her wisdom surpassed her years. On October 6, 2015, she suffered a severe stroke and heart attack that left her with a moderate disability. In 2016 she was diagnosed with mild Alzheimer's disease. She never allowed anything or anyone to stop her from living life.
On December 26, 2018, she suffered a massive ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke and a heart attack, while admitted in the hospital for an unrelated illness. Once again she was a miracle of survival by the grace of God. Sena fought her battle of disability until the Lord took her home on January 2, 2021.
Sena is survived by her two children, Paulette Pierre of San Diego, CA., Kenneth Broadnax of Desoto, TX. Granddaughter, Kenntria Broadnax of Los Angeles, CA., Great Granddaughter, Leeann Bursey of Los Angeles, CA., Estranged spouse, Eugene Guidry of Canyon Country, CA., Sisters, Ruby Barthley of Dallas, TX, Tweetie Allen of West Covina, CA., Lettie Marshall of Atlanta, GA., Brothers, Robert Hemphill of Spokane, WA., and Billy Hemphill of Garland, TX., as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Siblings who preceded her in passing, Chanie Banks, Julius "Sonny" Hemphill, William "Penn" Hemphill, and Albert "AL" Hemphill.
