Obituary

Sharon Lee Kirkman (Hoffmann), 64, Ramona, CA, entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 3, 2024, after her four year battle with cholangiocarcinoma cancer.

Sharon was born on September 19, 1959, in Vallejo, CA to Walter and Marie Hoffmann. She was the youngest of six children. She attended St. Vincent Ferrer School and St. Vincent Ferrer High School. She continued her education at the University of California, Davis where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics. While at Davis, she met James (Jim) Kirkman and the two married in August of 1982. Sharon began her career as a dietitian. She took a brief hiatus from working to raise her three children and decided to make a career shift to teaching in 1996. She started teaching at St. Dominic's Catholic School and continued to teach there for twenty years until her retirement in 2018. Teaching wasn't just a job to Sharon, she referred to her students as "my kids". She truly cared about their well being and was always happy to hear about their successes in life. She fondly looked back at her years teaching at St. Dominic's until her passing.

Following her retirement, Jim and Sharon moved to Southern California to live closer to their children and grandchildren. Sharon spent her days playing, cuddling, laughing and caring for her grand babies and it was one of the greatest joys of her life. Sharon was an amazing wife, mother and the matriarch of the family. To her, family was everything.

She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Marie Hoffmann and her brother Steven Hoffmann. She is survived by her loving husband of forty-two years Jim, her children Amanda Kosmo (Christopher), Michael Kirkman (Brittany), and Lindsay Thomas (Mark) and also her four sisters, Carolyn, Katheryn, Mary Ellen and Joanne. As well as her precious grandchildren: Brynnley, Madison, Charlotte, Mason, Grace and Harper. She is loved and missed dearly.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Benicia, CA at 1pm, Saturday, April 20, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations in Sharon's name to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
