Shaunie Searle
Davis
October 28, 1948 – April 17, 2024
In Loving Memory of Shaunie Searle Davis
With broken hearts we announce the passing of our beautiful and beloved Shaunie Searle Davis on April 17, 2024 at 75 years of age. She passed away gracefully and peacefully surrounded by love and in the embrace of her husband & four daughters.
In the last 12 years of her life, Shaunie courageously faced the ever-changing challenges of metastatic, Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Cancer and complications of Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome. While she valiantly underwent continual treatments, scans and medical interventions, her love and nurturing of her family and friends never faltered.
Shaunie Lyn Searle was born on October 28, 1948 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Donald and Norma (Andrew) Searle. She fondly spoke of her childhood in Utah, and adored her sisters and brothers. The Searle family relocated to San Diego, California in 1967.
After returning from studying at BYU, Shaunie met the love of her life, Billy, on a double-date with her sister Dawna & Billy's cousin. Shaunie & Billy were married on April 2, 1971 in San Diego and started their life together in Bay Park, close to Billy's family. They remained in San Diego, where they raised four daughters, Heather, Mindy, Angie & Bree.
Shaunie was a loving and devoted wife, diligent homemaker and exceptional mother who was happiest when her daughters were happy. She also worked as an office manager for a commercial corporation for nearly 20 years.
After retiring, she enjoyed making memories with her grandsons, gardening, baking, playing games, "rocking out" to top hits and hosting wonderful celebrations for every Holiday on the calendar. Shaunie loved the beauty of nature. And she was especially caring of animals, including her Border Collie, Blue and three grand-dogs, Tillie, Chloe & Winnie.
Shaunie is survived by her husband, Billy Davis of San Diego, CA, four daughters Heather Davis, Mindy Davis, Angie Couvrette (and husband Jeffrey) all of San Diego, CA, and Bree Dumont (and husband Justin) of Herriman, UT and grandsons Adam & William Couvrette.
She is also survived by her sisters Dawna McClain of Sandy, UT and Michelle Hooper (husband Charles) of Pine Grove, CA, and brother Kit Searle (wife Michelle) of Las Vegas, NV. Her siblings blessed her with a dozen brilliant nieces and nephews.
Shaunie was predeceased by her brother Troy in 1996, and her parents Norma and Donald in 2007.
Even in severely declining health, Shaunie was generous with her time, compassion and boundless gratitude. She touched many hearts with her genuine kindness, thoughtfulness and joyous spirit.
Her active Faith gave her enduring comfort and strength despite an incurable cancer diagnosis. Shaunie's incredible resilience, pure love for life, the Savior and others will continue to inspire us as we carry her example in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Shaunie's honor to LACNETS.org (Learn Advocate Connect Neuroendocrine Tumor Society) to support and provide resources to those living with Neuroendocrine Cancer.
