On August 9, 2022, Sofia J. Diaz passed away after a brief illness.  She was 88 years old.  A native of Mexico City, she came to California in 1961 and settled along with her husband Armando G. Diaz in the city of San Diego.  Sofia was the proud mother of 7 children.  She always provided support and love for her family.

Sofia retired from the PUSD where she was a yard duty for many years caring for other children at recess and lunch times.  She enjoyed caring for her garden, especially her roses.  She loved to cook for her family as well.  She passed on to many of her family members many traditions from her culture from music, authentic dishes and the many cultural celebrations.

Sofia lived a good, honest, hard-working life…she set a beautiful example for all of us to follow.

Sofia is survived by husband Armando and her five children, Patricia, Richard, Johnny, Lupita, Armando and her thirteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
