Steven Kenneth Erickson passed away peacefully on December 14, 2023 in San Diego, CA at the age of 80 years.

Steven was born on October 18, 1943, in Superior, Wisconsin to Kenneth and Alice (Niemi) Erickson. His parents raised him and his siblings Randall and Kristine in Maple, WI until their move to San Diego, CA in 1960.

He attended Maple Corner School from first through eighth grade before attending Northwestern High School in Maple and then graduating from Lincoln High School in San Diego in 1961. Steven later graduated from San Diego State University in 1974.

Steven was called into service with the US Army in 1967 and was stationed in South Korea where he met and fell in love with his wife Okcha (Kim). He later served with the Army National Guard and the Air Force Reserves until retiring from the service in 2003.

Steven worked professionally for the San Diego Parks & Recreation Department and the Social Security Administration until his retirement in 2003. He later worked for the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club as a Stable Security Assistant for 10 seasons, retiring in 2018.

A natural athlete, Steven grew up playing baseball and basketball in Wisconsin. Upon arriving in San Diego, he became an avid surfer and an accomplished over-the-line player, winning the OMBAC Open Championship in 1969 and the Century Division in 1975 and 1976.

Steven was passionate about the Green Bay Packers, Notre Dame Football, the television show Survivor, and music including artists such as the Beatles, Bob Dylan, and David Bowie, among others.

Steven is survived by Okcha, his wife of 51 years; his son Kori Erickson, daughter-in-law Ebony (Jones) Erickson, and beloved grandson Asa of San Diego, CA; his brother Randall Erickson of Paris, France; and his sister Kristine (Erickson) Kimble of Forster, Australia.
