Susan Marie Houck passed away in Poway, CA on March 9, 2026 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born in Augusta, GA on January 14, 1953 to Paul and Patricia Carpenter. Her family later moved to Lake Benton, MN where she grew up. Susan was 73 years old.

She earned a bachelor's degree and became a registered nurse. She continued a nursing career for more than 4o years. Susan was active with Mission Haiti, spending several months at a time doing mission work with her church. She especially loved working in an orphanage while she was there.

Susan enjoyed traveling anywhere she could. With her love of Disney, she had many repeat trips to Disney World and Disneyland. She was also an avid reader and loved Sudoku puzzles.

Susan is survived by her sons Mike (Jennifer) Houck of Poway, CA, and Chris (Lindsey) Houck of Aurora, SD; brother John (Lynne) Carpenter of Phoenix, AZ; sisters Mary Willert of Phoenix, AZ and Cindy (Dan) Enke of Appleton, MN; stepdaughters Melissa (Delmar) Nelson of Yankton, SD; Melanie Manas of Utica,SD and Michelle (Zach) Proffitt of Longmont, CO; and her four grandchildren Hailey, Bevin, Ainsley and Avyn.

A memorial service will be held on April 10th @ 3pm at the North Coast Church Rancho Bernardo Office, 12245 World Trade Dr Ste G, San Diego, CA 92128
