Svitlana Alekseevna Khudobina was born in Kiev, Ukraine on December 2, 1936. She lived through World War II with her mother and 2 sisters while her father was fighting for the motherland. She worked as a tour guide, librarian, and translator from Russian and Ukrainian to French and German. Her first marriage was to a man named Vladimir, and her second to Peter Khudobin, with whom she lived happily for 50 years. She is survived by her daughters Irina and Marina, and her grandchildren Anna, Daniel, George, Gloria, and Gregory, and her great grandchildren Leo and Itai. She lived in Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Russia, Armenia and spent her last 9 years in San Diego.She had enormous energy which lit up every place she walked into. She loved to sing and brought a spark with her everywhere she went. She loved to play chess and talk to strangers, and always had friends her age. When she lived in the former Soviet Union she was a nonbeliever, but when Ukraine separated from the Soviet Union she became a devoted Jew. In her last year of life, in May she accepted Jesus as her Lord and savior and was baptized on August 26, 2023. She had a very joyful last year and passed away peacefully on August 2, 2024. She sang her favorite song and her last words were "I love you."
