Terry Frank
Bennett
December 5, 1949 – July 21, 2019
Terry was born on December 5th 1949 in Berwick, Pennsylvania. He was one of 13 children, which made life in the Bennett household very challenging. As a teenager, Terry moved in with his older sister Brenda and brother-in-law, Tom. Terry worked at Tom's gas station/garage where his love of automoblies began and continued throughout his life.
After high school, Terry was drafted into the the U.S. Army where he served a tour of duty in Vietnam. He transitioned into the National Guard where he was able to complete his Bachelor of Science in Engineering at Penn. State.
After his discharge from the National Guard, Terry began his career at a car dealership where he was one of the highest selling salesmen. The dealership was offered to him, but the weather in California was calling him. He was the first in his family to move out of the small town of Berwick.
Terry settled in the Mira Mesa area where he became long time friends with Pete, Andrea and Jeff. He began working as a sales manager at Worldwide Auto Parts, which thrilled Pete because he would call Terry at work to have Terry bring home car parts. Terry was a very hard worker and because the store was open year round he often worked evenings, weekends and holidays, because that's who Terry was.
He met his wife, Linda on Christmas day 1999. On their first date, they knew they were destined to be together because they shared the same birthday, owned the same type of car (mustang) they both owned a cat, and neither had chlidren. They later married and bought their home in Scripps Ranch, where they lived for 20 years. They adopted their beloved Samoyed dog, Bentley, which reminded Terry of his childhood dog of the same breed.
Terry never forgot his upbringing. He was thrify and never wanted to waste anything. If it was broken, Linda would say " Let's just buy a new one" But Terry would say " Let me fix it with either duck tape or superglue".
Terry loved cars, gardening, Sci-Fi movies, traveling, crossword puzzles, holidays, mexican food, pizza and
Jimmy Buffett
. Terry was a practical joker. He liked telling jokes and pulling pranks. On one of the many trips with Pete and Andrea, Terry put a rubber snake in Andrea's bed and caused her to scream. He also left it outside and scared his neighbor, George.
Terry is survived by his wife, Linda, his dog, Bentley, 8 brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews. When you met him, you never forgot him. And so Terry, you will always remain in our hearts.
