Terry S.
Johnson
August 14, 1971 – December 18, 2019
Terry Sean Johnson died peacefully in his sleep at his parents' Poway home early Wednesday, December 18, 2019.
Georgiana Johnson, Terry's mother, gave birth to her second child on August 14, 1971 at the Donald N. Sharp Memorial Community Hospital located in San Diego, California. Even as a child Terry was known for his ebullient spirit, which was complemented by his kindness and generosity.
Terry attended Poway Unified Schools from kindergarten through high school. He was a sports enthusiast, particularly basketball, and was a star player in the Poway Youth Basketball league. As important as the game was to him, even more important were the friends he met along the way. Until his death, these friends (e.g. AJ, Kelly, Sidaron, Anthony) remained some of the most important people in his life. This is both a testament to Terry's enduring loyalty and the pre-eminent importance of people and relationships in his life.
Terry's other love was music. He learned to read by learning the names of songs on the 45" records his mother played. Because of his love of music, he entered school already a skilled reader. He had an impressive collection of classic rap and R&B records. In his spare time he created background tracks for local music artists.
Terry will be remembered as someone who lived life on his own terms. He was an independent spirit, not focused on status or possessions, but on the people who he cared about. This is clearly reflected by his twenty-one years of service with the CVS corporation, where he forged deep relationships with both his co-workers and customers. Terry's kind and open heart will be deeply missed, which is evidenced by the profound loss felt by his parents, siblings, and friends.
While he has maintained close ties in Poway and Rancho Bernardo, he recently purchased a new home in Wildomar, CA, where he enjoyed becoming part of that community and hosting family and friends at his home.
Terry is survived by his father Curtis Johnson, mother Georgiana Johnson, sister Tracy Lanise Johnson, and brother Todd Allen Johnson as well as a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins from California to Philadelphia. He is also survived by a large group of friends, in whose hearts he will always hold a special place.
