Tom Anthony
Hinrichs
February 4, 1953 – January 26, 2025
In the first hour of January 26, 2025, the music we loved from Tom Hinrichs on this astro plane went silent. No longer will we hear the riffs and songs he shared with us or played to himself. He was in his own world when playing solo and shared that world when playing with others. We are left with many memories and videos.
Tom was the third of seven children and survived by his mother Ramona, sisters Linda and Jennifer, brothers John, Jeff, Scott and Christopher, daughter Monisa, nieces and nephews along with several lifelong friends who will all miss him.
His legacy includes his numerous guitars, the musical experiences he shared with many, a custom-built blue road bicycle he made two Pacific Coast trips to or from Oregon with and the numerous stories of his lifetime adventures.
Tom was intelligent, funny and a very talented guitar player. He had a big heart and would give you the shirt off his back. He was a firm believer that all of God's wild living creatures were to be treated with respect. Especially raccoons. He was a good friend to many that lasted a lifetime.
Tom was tall in stature. At his full height he was 6 feet 11 -1/2 inches tall. All that height on a skinny person. This put him at the center of attention that he thrived on.
No matter what life threw at Tom or what he attracted, he always had his music, friends and family to fall back on.
What some had to say about Tom.
Tom, we had a great friendship like a brother. - Steve Boyce
Uncle Tom, thank you for the good memories I had during my childhood, remembering you as always laughing and smiling and with your Woodstock vibes. - Nicole
Tom, my good friend. You brought a lot of fun into my life. You are now in a better place. Do not be afraid. God did not give you the spirit of fear but everlasting life. I'll see you on the other side.
Your lifelong buddy Mark. RIP Goofy.
Tom was a gentile human being that loved his friends and family as we, his friends loved him. I will miss his big smile, and the phone calls on my birthday to wish me a happy birthday and remind me how old I'm getting, of course, in fun. Rest in peace my friend and as you soar through the heavens in this next adventure, I wish you blue skies and fair winds. RIP my friend - Jim Magil
I will miss the phone calls, the funny stories we shared, the camping trips, and most of all the music we played together. I hear your voice and your laughter playing in my head constantly. These are memories I will cherish forever.
Thank you for being a great friend and being a part of my life. - Joe Arroyo
I will always miss Tom. I often think of the times back in school when we would get into trouble doing nothing but hanging out, even getting searched by the Hawthorne police department. Tom was unique. There was no agenda with him. I never worried about what he would do behind my back. That is a very rare quality, and I will always miss him. - David Negri
Tom, during my visits with you these past several months, we shared many good memories from growing up and I learned so much more about you that I missed. I will miss the long phone calls reminiscing with you about the experiences we shared in life, the music you shared, crazy poker games, adventure stories of Big Sur, Kern River, Jawbone Canyon, Big Bear and much more. A BIG HOOYAHHH!!!!!
I love you Bro, Rest in peace. – Jeff Play a tune, Tom.
