Obituary

Richard Lee Grant, age 82, of Poway passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on March 1, 2017.  He was born on September 13, 1934 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Harry Edward and Lula Belle "Lou" (Bush) Grant.    Dick was a retired Naval Aviator who served three tours in Vietnam.  He retired in Coronado from the Navy in 1977 and moved the family to Poway, CA.  After retiring from the Navy, he ventured into the Real Estate industry and ultimately the Homeowner Association management business.

"Dick" as he was known to family and friends had a penchant for life. As a Naval Aviator, he wanted nothing more than to "teach young men how to fly jets" and carried this philosophy into civilian life with regards to entrepreneurial skills.  From his fraternity days at the University of Nebraska to his naval career, to his love for golf, the camaraderie he found with friends sparked countless stories.  Dick was a friend and mentor to all he encountered and no doubt changed the lives of those who knew him.  He was a great husband, father and grandfather who always found time for his family.  Dick will be greatly missed.

Dick is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bonnie Lou (Splichal) Grant; sons Steve Grant of Hanford and Greg Grant of Rancho Bernardo; daughter Kylie (Grant) Felicich of Mendocino; sister Susie (Grant) Kranz and brother-in-law Ron Kranz of Fremont, Nebraska.  Grandchildren, Tyler Grant, Leslie Grant, Nick Grant, Harrison Grant, Elise Grant, Mitchell Grant, Jonathan Grant, Brian Grant, Evan Mahorney, Kaitlan Mahorney, Cecily Felicich, Finn Felicich, Grant Felicich, Drake Felicich and Amy Felicich.  Daughters-in-law Summer Miller Grant and Susan Mahorney, son-in-law David Felicich and numerous nieces and nephews.
